The two-storey building with numerous interesting architectural details is a true gem of architecture in Lermontovskaya Street, Tambov.
One can’t help admiring multiple columns decorating the facade, window openings of different sizes, and delicate balconies of this house.
The mansion had a type of layout plan typical for a country estate. It had a closed patio and was meant for the lodging purposes. The owner of the house was a prominent public figure, a chairman of the electric lighting commission in Tambov, a mining engineer, Andrey Nazariyev. The interior furnishing and layout plan matched the house purposes.
S.V. Rakhmaninov visited this mansion at the beginning of the 20th century, in 1902. Also, his distant relative, L.D. Rostovtseva with her husband, colonel A.I. Rostovtsev, used to live here. Possibly, the conversation with his friend about marrying Natalia Satina took place here as well. The event is commemorated with the memorial plate saying: “Great Russian composer Sergey Rakhmaninov visited this house in 1902”.
Many years have passed after the house was built and the building still remains an apartment house.
